Purchase of Alaska

The issue with this political cartoon is that Russia never said no to buying Alaska. The cartoonist message, is that it is easy to purchase a state. I think that when someone see's this cartoon, they might think that the men are fighting over Alaska. The cartoonist used labeling to show that America is carrying the state away. It also uses irony because America did not carry Alaska away as the cartoon shows. The political cartoon ​supports the American Imperialism because America is getting bigger by adding new states.
