Boxer Rebellion

The issue with this political cartoon is that China is getting split into a million pieces. The cartoonist message is that China is going to break because the other countries want a piece of China. The cartoonist techniques are labeling, because China is labeled. Analogy is also used because China resembles a pie and everyone wants a piece of that pie. Irony is also used, because that's not how China was purchased. This cartoon does not support American Imperialism because China is not part of America.

Roosevelt's Corollary

The issue with this political cartoon is that Teddy Roosevelt is pointing a cannon at a King of Europe. The cartoonist message is that Teddy Roosevelt and the United States are in charge. The cartoonist techniques are symbolism, because the US is being portrayed as the bigger man, dominating the surrounding countries. This cartoon supports American Imperialism because Teddy Roosevelt is the king over the main country.

Open Door Policy

The issue with this cartoon is that Uncle Sam is in the way of the other people (countries) to get into China. The cartoonist message is that Uncle Sam is bigger and better than the other countries. The cartoonist techniques are symbolism because Uncle Sam who represents America, it also uses labeling because the giant key is labeled. This cartoon supports American Imperialism because Uncle Sam is portrayed as big and more powerful than all the others.

Panama Canal

The issue with this political cartoon is that there is a man with a flag that says "new treaty," he wants to stop Theodore Roosevelt from making the Panama Canal. The cartoonist message is that Teddy Roosevelt is the one in charge and has boatloads of people who do the work.  The techniques the cartoonist used was exaggeration because Teddy Roosevelt is not that big in real life. The cartoon supports American Imperialism because Teddy Roosevelt is getting dirty and presidents do not get dirty.

Annexation of Hawaii

This issue of this political cartoon is that out of the four babies, Uncle Sam drops baby Hawaii. The cartoonist message is that Uncle Sam is a "father" to Philippines, Porto Rico, and Cuba but not to Hawaii. There are two techniques in this political cartoon. The first one is symbolism because this is not how Hawaii was annexed , and the second one is labeling because the babies have writing on their clothes. The cartoon supports American Imperialism because Hawaii is now free.

Annexation of Hawaii

The issue with this cartoon is that a man is looking at Uncle Sam suspiciously. The cartoon shows Uncle Sam under a tree that has apples with different countries on them. Uncle Sam caught the fruit that said Hawaii. The techniques that the cartoonist used were labeling because the fruit on the tree are labeled. Symbolism because this symbolizes the Annexation of Hawaii. Irony because this is not how Hawaii was annexed. The cartoon supports American Imperialism because Hawaii is now free.

Purchase of Alaska

The issue with this political cartoon is that Russia never said no to buying Alaska. The cartoonist message, is that it is easy to purchase a state. I think that when someone see's this cartoon, they might think that the men are fighting over Alaska. The cartoonist used labeling to show that America is carrying the state away. It also uses irony because America did not carry Alaska away as the cartoon shows. The political cartoon supports the American Imperialism because America is getting bigger by adding new states.

Spanish-American War

The issue with this political cartoon is that Uncle Sam is cutting a tree down that has someone on it. The message is that America won the Spanish American War. The cartoonist used labeling because the tree has writing on it showing that the Spanish Colonies is coming down. Symbolism because  Uncle Sam, who represents America , is the one that is taking the Spanish Colonies down. The cartoonist supported the American Imperialism because Uncle Sam is cutting down the Spanish tree.
